The following screen calculates the average one-month return for each stock and compares that value with the one-month return of their corresponding industry. The average industry return is calculated using the "comp" function. More info can be found on our blog posts about this composite function.
In order for this screen to work, the "industry" field of your stock symbols must be filled. You can fill it manually or automatically using the "Auto-Manage Symbols" tool. More info about this tool can be found here.
This screen will display all stocks that are outperforming (one-month rate of return) their industry for the chosen date. It will also display 5 columns:
Symbol: The stock's ticker symbol
Close: The close price
Perf: The one-month return
Perf Ind.: The one-month return of the corresponding industry.
Industry: The stock's industry name
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
