Highlight Periods

This function would allow you to highlight certain periods on your chart. You can for example use it to highlight recession periods or any other important events.

The function accepts a list of dates separated by commas. The list should define the start and end of each period to highlight.

As an example, to highlight the last two recession periods, you should type something like this (Right click on the chart then select "Edit Formula"):

a = HighlightPeriods("03-01-2001,11-01-2001,12-01-2007,06-01-2009");
plot(a, "", colorLightGray|50, ChartStep, StyleOwnScale);
UpdateSettings("Top-Bottom Chart Margin", 0);

If you want to highlight a period that starts from a certain date to today, just put the start date and omit the end date.
Example:
a = HighlightPeriods("03-01-2001,11-01-2001,12-01-2007,06-01-2009,10-10-2015");
// Period starting from 10-10-2015 to today will be highlighted

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
