Dynamically Update Indicator Settings

Updated on 2010-10-22

To dynamically update indicator settings, click on the third icon (Pen Icon) on the top of a chart then select the formula that contains your indicator.

You can also right click on a chart, select "Update Formula Dynamically" then click on the formula that contains your indicator.

The form that is displayed contains several tabs. Each tab corresponds to a line in your formula code.

For example, if you update the default formula, the form will contain two tabs.
The first one corresponds to the PLOT function that displays Quotes and the second one to the PLOT function that displays the Volume.
Depending on the function you are selecting several options may appear. For a PlotCandleStick (PLOT) formula, you can update the description, graph color or style.
For a trading indicator, you can update the parameters of this indicator.

Other Options
- Uncheck "Enabled" to comment the function and disable it.
- Click on "Delete" to remove the function.

Note that you cannot disable or delete a function that is referred by another function/variable. In this case you will get the following message: "Formula error, Update canceled".
You should first disable or remove the function/indicator that is using the function you want to delete.

- The Update form is automatically closed when the form focus is lost. To keep this form active, click on the red button (Bottom-Right); the button will turn green.
- To restore the original formula, click on the "Undo" button.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
