Hi,

I have downloaded the Australian Stock Exchange data from yahoo and have tried to use the simulator with symbol ASX.
The simulator does not open any positions at al,l with any buy rules I set. I tried setting the rule to buy=1 and that still didn't produce any results.

Is there something I'm missing?

cheers.

Hi,

Make sure
You have set valid start&end dates
You have specified symbols
You are using a Long or Long/Short system
In Settings->Capital, Percent of capital to invest is not set to 0%

If this doesn't work, try again with a new trading system

Thank you for the quick response! I have found the incorrect setting on my part.

I checked all 4 things: dates, symbols and long/short, and capital. Didn't work.

So I tried again with a new trading system and adjusted the 4 things and it produced results!
I slowly updated the new system, one configuration item at a time until it resembled the old system.

The key turning point was: Commissions & slippage. I wanted $20/trade, instead I had selected $ per share/contract !!

Thanks again!
cheers

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
