I used to be able to download stuff from the sharing server and today I am getting a message that I need to upgrade my license.
Anything changed?

Hi,
The lifetime license comes with one year of free upgrades and one year of free access to the sharing server.
One additional year costs $95.
|

So why is it called a lifetime license and not a 1 year license?

Chris, it is not a one year license. you can use QuantShare for life.
After the first year, newer versions need an upgrade but even if you do not upgrade you can continue using QuantShare.

so... I think I get it. You can download existing symbols... but not acquire newer symbols via download servers? Lame sauce. I just got hit with this "surprise" as well.

No, you can download any symbol you want. You can access any downloader (or trading item from the sharing server) you have previously downloaded.
Just add new symbols using "Symbol -> Add" then download data for them.

I'm confused. Does that mean I can hand download symbols (say forex or crypto currency) simply by typing in it's symbol (without the need for the download script?)

No, this is not possible. QuantShare does not provide data. You need to use download scripts to get data. Theses download scripts get data from free sources, parses it then imports it into QuantShare database.

You will just need to pay the difference to switch from the Advanced to Premium version.
