Hello,

What does the "perf" in the code below measure? Assuming it stands for performance?

buy = rule1 and (close * sma(volume, 10) > 50000 and close > 2) && ((perf(close, 35)) > (4)) && ((volume) > (1 * sma(volume, 5))) && ((perf(close, 10)) < (8));
sell = ((absolute((close / sma(close, 10)) - 1)) < (0.04)) || ((perf(close, 35) / perf(close, 5)) > (1.02));

Thanks!
SD

Can you give us an example please? I still don't understand what performance means.

Is it the average of the dataset?How is performance calculated? If for example the dataset was (21,23,26,28,20) what is the performance?

The manual doesn't help has it just gives an example but doesn't show the result.

thanks!

MD

The performance here is the return. Perf(close, 1), means the one-bar return. (Today close / Yesterday's close) - 1 and multiplied by 100.
You can plot any variable in a chart to have a visual confirmation (Right click on a chart pane and select "Edit formula")

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
