How would I test (optimize) the values of a variable in the node of a ranking system. As I attempt to enter one, I get a formula error.
Also, I had a variable in a rule, but I could not see how to reference the rule in the ranking system.

It is not possible to optimize a variable in the node of a ranking system.
What you can do is create several formulas in a ranking system and use the genetic algorithm optimizer to get the best combination.
Or you can use the "Comp" function.

What do you mean by "reference the rule in the ranking system"?

You should type in the rule formula in your ranking system, you cannot reference an external rule
