Australian stock market traders who are interested in building a fundamental database can use this item to download historical fundamental data. The data is retrieved from (ascii-data.com) website; it is available from December 2003 to July 2009. July was the last release; I don't know the reason why the website stopped providing these fundamental files.
If anyone knows where I can get fresh fundamental data, please let me know.
The data is stored into the following historical database: 'asx_fundamental'. The database has 10 fields:
mktcap: The total dollar value of all outstanding shares (Market Capitalization).
dividend_yield: The yield a company pays out to its shareholders (Dividend yield).
pe: A ratio calculated by dividing the stock price by the per-share earnings (Price Earnings Ratio).
eps: Earnings divided by the number of outstanding shares (Earnings per Share).
earnings_yield: Earnings yield.
debt_equity: A measure of a company's financial leverage (Debt / Equity).
nta: Net tangible assets per share.
discover: The number of times the amount of dividend paid by the company is covered by its earnings.
share_nta: The stock price divided by the Net tangible assets per share.
cvgi: No explanation provided.
The downloader has a custom field, which lets you decide whether to download all fundamental data or just the last reported fundamental file.
To get all historical data, just type 'all', in the text box under the 'type: last or all' tab name. The item will then read the main page and extract all the available link. It will then download and parse the data it finds in each link.
To get last reported fundamental file, type 'last'.
