Price Earnings Ratio (PER)

Share |

The Price Earnings Ratio, also called P/E or PER, is a financial and fundamental ratio that measures the price of a stock relatively to its annual profit.
In general, a high price earnings ratio indicates that investors are expecting a higher earnings growth in the future. Value companies have low price earnings ratios, while growth companies have high price earnings ratio.

The Price Earnings Ratio or PER is calculated as the stock's market value per share divided by the earnings per share or EPS.
