Hello,

I'm curious if there is a way to apply any of the pre-built indicators (particularly the sma) to a specific symbol for market timing (buy/sell rules) purposes.

It looks like there isn't an option to pass a symbol to the functions, rather they only support analyzing the symbol list as it is parsed.

Is there a pre-built function for this, and if not is there a custom sma function that lets you specify a static symbol?

Thank you.

Yes of course it is possible.
You can reference a symbol data using "GetSeries" function.

Example:
sma(GetSeries('^GSPC', close), 30)
