Stocks with the highest Volume Increase

by Brian Brown, 4861 days ago

This screen displays stocks that had an exceptional volume increase and that are more likely to move in one way or another during the next sessions.

Using the composite function (comp), this screen returns the top 20 stocks that had the highest increase in today's volume compared to the volume of the last 5 days. This screen simply calculates the rank of volume divided by its 5-Bar simple moving average (The formula value is compared to the value returned by all stocks included in the screen) and then returns stocks whose rank is lower than 20. The stock with the highest increase in recent volume has a rank value of one; followed by a stock with a rank of two...
I have also added an additional filter to the screen and the filter consists of ignoring stocks with a close price of less than 2 dollars.

To get stocks in the highest percentile (for example stocks that are in the top 1% percentile), replace the "rank" parameter in the composite indicator by the "percentile" parameter.

Here is an example of another screen that uses the composite indicator to calculate the highest increase in both price and volume: Stock Ranking using Rate of Change and SMA Volume.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
