This list contains the ticker symbols of stocks that trade in the Brazilian stock market, more precisely in the Sao Paulo stock exchange.
Sao Paulo stock exchange is the largest stock exchange in Brazil and the fourth in the American continent in terms of market capitalization.
According to Wikipedia there were 450 companies listed on the Bovespa (Sao Paulo stock market) as of April 30, 2008.

This Brazil stock market item contains 354 ticker symbols, probably the biggest ones. Also included divers information like the companies full names, the company activity description, the month of the end of the fiscal year, the industry that the stock belongs to.
The 'name1' field contains the yahoo-compatible ticker symbol name. You can downloader the Yahoo EOD downloader, and download historical end of day quotes for the Brazil stock market.
The data downloaded from yahoo server doesn't look good for some symbols, there are also a lot of bad ticks, and thus the data must be filtered to reject those bad ticks.

This list contains only Brazilian stock market companies' data and doesn't contain indexes ticker symbols.
